Hydroponics is another way of growing your vegetables without using soil. In here you also use a medium such as Hydroton to hold the plant straight.
The plants in a hydroponics system grow faster and require less space because as in aquaponics, the water is brought to the roots. They don’t have to go deep in search of water. And that’s why the roots will stay shorter. And that gives you the opportunity to grow more plants in smaller space.
In hydroponics, you don’t use fish water. You pour nutrient in the water and the plants will take the nutrients they need.
There are many many nutrients that you can use. One of them is worm tea.
As I already said in my previous post, worms eat organic wastes and turn it into nutrient rich compost that your plants love!
With that compost, you can make a worm tea. You fill a sock with the compost and let it stay in water for 24 hours. All the nutrients from the compost will dissolve in the water.
That worm tea can be poured in the water of the hydroponics system. This is a great nutrient source for plants.
I have a hydroponics system that only has worm tea in it and it is doing great! The plants are growing great in that system.
